Sensory integration or sensory processing refers to how people use the information provided by all the senses coming from within the body and from the external environment. Our senses integrate to form a complete understanding of who we are, where we are, and what is happening around us. Because our brain uses information about sights, sounds, textures, smells, tastes and movement in an organized way, your assign meaning to your sensory experiences and we know how to respond and behave accordingly.
In some children impairments in SI interfered with development.
The different sensory preferences and intolerances affect play, work, learning, social interactions, behaviour and every day activities. These are specific techniques and strategies that can improve a child’s ability to integrate and use sensory information in a meaningful way which is called as SI therapy.
